NEWS FROM OTLEY CARNIVAL 22 September 2009

The Carnival Committee recently met to commence the planning and organisation of next year's carnival which will be held on Saturday 19^th June.

One of the first tasks is to select the beneficiaries for 2010 who will share the profit from the year's activities. Last year £3,000 was passed on to local organisations and since the very first Otley Carnival in 1983 more than £60,000 has been donated to 70 different organisations as varied as Otley Hospital, Riding for the Disabled, the Talking Newspaper, Martin House, Otley Brass Band, schools, scouts, guides and other youth groups.

Applications are now invited from organisations who would like to benefit from this major local event. The only qualification to be a beneficiary of the carnival is that the group or oganisation must be seen to be offering some benefit to the people of Otley. If your group fits this criterion and is in need of some financial support, don't delay the closing date for applications is 16^th October.
