OTLEY CARNIVAL SATURDAY, 19th JUNE 2010 NEWS FROM OTLEY CARNIVAL 9 March 2010 LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS GET THE BALL ROLLING The first two steps towards Saturday 19th June have been made during the last few days. Firstly a competition of the best poster publicising the Carnival has been held amongst Primary school pupils throughout the area. The winning posters will all feature in the 2010 Carnival programme with the overall winner on the front cover. A total of entries were received and examined by the judges before they declared the results as follows:

Each age group winner receives a £5 book token and the overall winner receives a £10 book token plus a T-shirt showing her winning design and an engraved shield. ELECTION OF THIS YEAR'S CARNIVAL QUEEN A total of 16 local girls aged from 4 to 11 years old presented themselves at the Civic Centre last Friday hoping to be elected as this year's Queen, Deputy, Attendant or Crown Bearer and take part in the crowning ceremony on Carnival day. The Judges had a hard time making the final decision but in the end selected the following: THE CARNIVAL QUEEN FOR 2010 WILL BE: Alice Elizabeth Wood aged 10 years and from Otley All Saints School Orla Turnbull (Attendant), Amelia Jessop (Deputy Carnival Queen), Alice Elizabeth Wood (Carnival Queen), Jasmine Manson (at rear – Attendant), and Katelyn May ( at front – Crown Bearer). The Deputy Queen will be Amelia Jessop aged 10 from St Josephs School Please note all these 5 are elected to be officially crowned/appointed on carnival day (19th June) the existing Queen, etc will continue in office until that day) ENDS For further information contact Geoff Wright on 01943-465179
