NEWS FROM OTLEY CARNIVAL From Otley Carnival 1.6.14 Otley Carnival is looking
forward to welcoming Yorkshire’s own Helicopter Heroes on Carnival day. As
long as there are no emergency call-outs on Saturday 21st June,
Yorkshire Air Ambulance is planning to land one of their helicopters in the
field next to the Carnival site, where they will be pleased to meet and chat to
their fans and supporters. In addition to the excitement of greeting the air ambulance, visitors to the Carnival field will be able to watch Elaine Shepherd’s sheepdogs trying to control ducks and geese, followed in the main arena by a karate display from local group Zetsurin. In between families can enjoy a wide variety of entertainment and fun –as well as the usual children’s fairground rides and giant inflatables, there will be donkey rides, Sumo wrestling, a bungee run and the scouts’ assault course; and of course no one will need to go hungry or thirsty as they enjoy the afternoon - they will be tempted by edible treats to suit every taste from the traditional burgers, candy floss, donuts and icecream to something a little different from Caribbean and German savouries and tempting fruit skewers with a chocolate fountain. The Carnival Committee would like to remind people that entry to the Carnival field is absolutely FREE – all they ask is that having enjoyed everything on offer you throw any small change you have left into the collecting bath at the exit !!
