Our 2001 Panto was Cinderella

by Norman Robbins

By arrangement with Samuel French

Cinderella is a traditional favourite, last performed by OLT in 1992. It contains all the excitement of an epic adventure, featuring star crossed lovers, luxurious transport, magical powers and cross dressing. Oh, and it's also got plenty of dodgy glass footwear and mice pretending to be something they aren't - not to mention the cast!

A reminder of the plot...

nce upon a time a Prince (the Prince is actually a woman) (as is his"man") was out hunting in the woods and came across the daughter (female) of a hard-up Baron (male). The Prince wanted to have a laugh and giggle with the girls of the village (all female), so he (she) pretended to be his/her man Dandini (a woman), and proceeded to fall for the Baron's daughter (also a woman).

Got it so far? Wait for the next bit...

In the meantime, the Baron has married a wicked woman (who is a woman) who doesn't know the Baron has a daughter (see above, somewhere around the "female" area) but has her own two wicked daughters (one is a man, the other is... well, you get the picture! As usual, panto is far from straightforward...)
