. Tuesday 4th December 2007

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. New OiB meeting format proposed and accepted involving more progress reports to be circulated amongst the members before the meeting. This should reduce the length of each meeting and allow time for more discussion and dscision making.
  2. Budget presented by Linda. OiB is in good shape financially which will allow us to tackle some good projects in the coming year.
  3. Gateways project continues well.
  4. Sales of the Calendar have now grossed £1400. 120 calendars still to sell.
  5. A Task Force event to tidy up the Willow tree area on Bridge Street is needed. Proposed for January 2008. New CCTV cameras to be installed in town. One outside the Parish Hall. Letter to be written to ask for sympathetic installation and painting.
  6. Invitation received for OiB to lead a group round key floral and green sites during the Otley Walking Festival in 2008. Katie to reply positively.

. Tuesday 5th February 2008

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. HSBC corner in need of more flagstones. Katie to write to Iain Plumtree the Town Clerk. In Bloom Certificate list to be revised and circulated.
  2. Otley Chamber of Trade has generously donated £500 for the Task Force activities. Waitrose Charities Committee looking to sponsor an Otley cause. Their next meeting is 13th February. Katie to prepare list, combining Town Enhancement Plan and Hoardings in time for the meeting.
  3. Otley Town Partnership had a meeting with Sainsbury's Community Liaison Group. Katie to write introducing/promoting OiB.
  4. Mary wrote to Netto's suggesting planting - the reply was positive. As a result meeting to be arranged with Netto people.
  5. PWC Heidi Beardsmore has given the go ahead for planting under trees at the Police Station - to involve school children during September.
  6. Preparation now starting to create the brochure for this year's Yorkshire in Bloom entry.

. Tuesday 4th March 2008

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. OIB has been asked to campaign for a tree warden in the town by Otley Conservation Taskforce.
  2. Press Releases to Otley Matters & Wharfedale Observer to be done.
  3. Plans for next months Spring judging and the preceding clear-up were finalised.
  4. A proposed list of Taskforce dates and events was circulated.

. Tuesday 1st April 2008

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. Yorkshire in Bloom competition entry in full swing. Plans now made for tidy up sessions, a practice of the route, the Civic Centre display and the provision of lunch for the Judges.
  2. Certificate and Newsletter delivery - the bulk of the certificates have been delivered, remainder distributed for delivery.
  3. Plans for setting up a stand at the Otley Green Fair now finalised.
  4. Gateways: the Leeds Road site should be ready for viewing during the summer judging.
  5. Next Task Force events planned.

. Tuesday 6th May 2008

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. Yorkshire in Bloom competition entry - Route to be prepared to include different sites to Spring Judging. Also to include more time at the Otley Wetlands to see the orchids.
  2. Gateway Project. The giant boulders are now in place at Leeds Road and at Ellar Ghyll. Andy to press the Dry Stone Wallers to set a date for construction. Andy has made contact with a local stone engraver, David Brierley, who will carve the lettering for free.
  3. Plans now in train for the Walking Festival day including a 'trial run' beforehand. Task Force events planned and volunteers ready.

. Tuesday 3rd June 2008

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. Flora was welcomed as a new member.
  2. Marijec has now started her new role as a Tree Warden for Otley.
  3. Letter from the Otley Conservation Task Force about some new developments at the riverside read and reviewed.
  4. Gateway Project. The date for construction now set for June 10th. Task Force planting work on Thursday 12th June. The Grand opening should be on Monday 16th June.
  5. Yorkshire in Bloom competition entry - Request for photos to go to Rachael for the brochure. Other arrangements in hand
  6. Negotiations continue with Netto's about sponsorship.
  7. Volunteer Showcase day at the Courthouse Thursday 12th June. OiB to have a poster display.

. Tuesday 1st July 2008

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. Otley Town Council have asked Otley in Bloom to be the judges for their Garden Competition. Three of our members will take on the job.
  2. Lots of preparation for the Yorkshire in Bloom judging day on Thursday 17th July is underway - including a Task Force Clean Up on 16th July.
  3. The first of the Otley Town Gateways is now complete - we are delighted with this joint effort from the whole group. The Mayor and a number of local dignatories came to the 'Grand Opening' - we now hope to see some good press coverage for this important success.
  4. Katie has arranged a meeting with Greg Mulholland, the local MP, to see what help he can give us with our projects.
  5. Funding will be sought from Nettos and from Waitrose.
  6. The OiB Christmas meal is going to be at Parceval Hall - Tuesday 2nd December.

. Tuesday 5th August 2008

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. The Taskforce are to tackle weeding at the Ellar Ghyll site and planting of crocus at the Police station in Autumn.
  2. The group looked into funding some extra litter bins, but the cost was prohibitive.
  3. Japanese Knotweed and Ragwort on the By-pass drawn to LCC’s attention – these are classified weeds, so we cannot get involved.
  4. Several sites around the town with unclear ownership were discussed, it appears some have dropped off the Glendales contract.

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. A report from Neil Wilson clarified issues about ownership from last meeting and gave advice about bulb planting. Old planters to be removed from Memorial garden.
  2. Gateways. Nettos have agreed to be our funding partner for Pool Road, building plans are underway.

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. OIB entered the Piper Lane bed replanting into the Community & Civic Pride Awards.
  2. Summer bedding order agreed.
  3. AGM preparation.
  4. Silver Award given to Otley in Yorkshire in Bloom competition.
  5. Press releases for Otley Life & Otley Matters done.

. Tuesday 4th November 2008

AGM – the treasurers report and accounts were submitted, the secretaries report was submitted, officers were elected.

The main issues discussed in the meeting were:
  1. Bulb planting at police station and memorial garden.
  2. Bradford Road project from Town Enhancement study to be started with Waitrose as a possible funding partner.
  3. Report on plans for Pool Road gateway.
  4. Prince Henrys Grammar School – OIB are to act as mentors helping them get the most out of their green spaces.
