Otley in Bloom has had a great deal of success in the regional 'In Bloom' competitions. The Town's involvement began when Otley Town Council worked with the Otley Chamber of Trade to install some hanging baskets on some of the lamp-posts in the Town. The benefits resulting from Otley's entry into the Yorkshire in Bloom contest are many and varied. It enables Otley in Bloom to obtain funding to carry out a variety of projects to enhance the town and improve its green spaces with year round colourful and sustainable displays. The town benefits from improved services such as street cleaning, grass cutting, graffiti removal and high quality floral displays. The competition encourages businesses, organisations and individuals to do "their bit" and help create a sense of civic pride and put Otley on the map. It fosters co-operation between Leeds City Council, Otley Town Council and other organisations to work together for the benefit of the town. All these combined efforts can be enjoyed by everyone and result in Otley being a great place in which to live, work and visit. There's a great deal of planning and work that goes into preparing the town for the Spring and Summer judging each year.
