Hail! Queen of the May -A retreat day on the discipleship of Mary at Myddelton Grange Youth Retreat Centre, May 16th 2009. With a hectic first three months I decided to take the opportunity to enjoy a lovely day of Marian Devotion and contemplative prayer. Or at least that is what I thought I was going to do. Wrong! In fact Fr Simon Lodge challenged us to really look at this idea of space for God. How big is the God shaped hole in our lives? Our lives are so hectic that we don’t make the time to fill that hole. How does Mary fit in to this? She is our greatest example of making the space for God in her life. The realisation of this during the day through Fr Simon’s brilliant talks, was one that challenged and hit hard particularly with me. A young woman so ready to give her life to something so unknown. Yet we know that was to end with pain as she watched her son be crucified. At the end of each talk time was given to reflect on the true discipleship of Mary. |

At 2:15pm we all gathered in the pouring rain to process with Our Mother Mary from the old Lodge to Myddelton Grange chapel. As the each decade of the rosary was prayed the true joy of the day continued. In the chapel Mary was crowned with a coronet of flowers and the day closed with a song of praise. The day really revitalised me and renewed my own desire to keep serving the Lord. Many times I will fall and experience pain but that will never dampen the amazing love that God has for us all |
